Mathrubhumi News Paper

The Mathrubhumi News Paper is considered among the oldest and most popular newspapers in South India. The origin of this newspaper is Kerala, the smallest of all South Indian states. This most favourite Malayalam language newspaper was first time published in 1923. This newspaper has played a very positive and potential role in freedom movement. K.P.Kesava Menon was the founder and chief editor of this newspaper. The first managing director of Mathrubhum was K. Madhavan Nair but after couple of months, he decided to leave the position for some personal reason and after his resignation, K.P.Kesava Menon was oppinted for the position. This newspaper always tried to reveal the truth and to disclose the facts before public so it would be most appropriate to say that this is a public newspaper.

After one year of its creation, Mathrubhumi News Paper started experiencing its weekly publications. With the passage of time, this newspaper started getting more popularity and after short period of time, the newspaper started its women section with the name ‘Grihalakshmi'. In 1982, the chitrabhumi, a new addition in the Mathrubhumi family came into existence. This publication is related to film world and it publishes allkinds of news and reviews about celebrities, new and old films. Now this newspaper has become a wide spreading and fast growing publishing unit and it is also promoting the culture of Kerala. This newspaper is also making great efforts in the film word like 'Mathrubhumi Kalotsavam' and 'The Mathrubhumi Film Award Functions'.

Now this group of publication has entered in telecasting or broadcasting world and they are running their own T.V channel with the name Mathrubhumi Television or MBTV. This T.V channel like other Matrubhumi publications is doing very well and producing high class telefilms, documentaries and other stage programs. An FM radio station has also been introduced proudly IN Kerala after the success of T.V channel. This radio channel is working successfully to entertain people of Kerala with heart bound music and helpful tips for fashion, clothing and life style. This uncountable success of Matrubhumi group is the consequence of the mutual efforts of thousands of people. It seems incredible that newspaper that was started as a part of independence movement, on political base would be the largest media group of South India would enjoy the peak of it success. This newspaper has shown an impressive circulation with more than one million copies published daily around India.
